Eddie Whiteman! He was selected as the Male Coach of the Year by the Virginia Beach Sports Club.

Brian Reynolds and his students, Genevive Corpus, Thomas Dang, Raven Dela Cruz, Sayana Mullins, Joseph Vanleeuwen, and Kehli Walton, for winning first place in the Biotechnology category at the Technology Student Association State Competition. In addition, Emily Birkler won the Future Technology Teacher award. They will compete in the national conference held in Atlanta this summer.

Savannah Rose Smith for winning first place in the State Championship Skills USA Computer3-D Animation and Visualization Design! She will compete at Nationals in June. Congratulations to Baily Stewart for winning third place in Prepared Speech!

Abigail Martin and Mimi Trieu for being selected as our newest Brickell Scholars!

School Resource Officer, Chris Washington, on WTKR. He and his father received the People Taking Action Award for teaching karate to teens at the Rosemont Boys and Girls Club in Virginia Beach. They received a $300 check from Southern Bank. Congratulations to Officer Washington and his father!

 Cum Laude: Rachel McGraw (Latin V), Zachary Coley (Latin II), Malak Laaguiby (Latin I), and Jacob Parmiter (Latin I).

Taylor Maloney and Mitchell Durant for winning first and second place in the 2018 Elie Wiesel Writing Competition. In addition, Ainsley Dento tied for third place in the Senior Essay Division. Angela DeVenuto was a finalist in the same category. Anna Reddel was a finalist in the Senior Poetry Division. Thank you to Kate Laroue for teaching all of these students and encouraging them to participate in this competition!

Tallwood Elementary School and Tallwood High School who were selected as 2018 Model Partners and will be recognized at the Community Engagement Awards Reception at ODC on Tuesday, April 17.

Tallwood's band program which has now earned the distinguished title of Virginia Honor Band by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association.  This is the 13th time in the school’s history that the band program has earned this distinction and their 10th time in a row.

The Tallwood Wrestling Team for winning the King of Beasts invitational. Team results: 1st Place - Tallwood  2nd Place-  Salem   3rd Place - Potomac Senior

Christine Anderson! Her article submitted to the Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Magazine was selected to appear in the best practices edition for the fall of 2018.

Nacity Croy for being selected to receive the Great Dreams Need Great Teachers Award

Tricia Campbell's students in her Advanced Art class, Shannon Jones and Gabriella O'Briant, for being accepted into the Teen Apprentice Program at MOCA. This program is a unique opportunity for 10 – 15 VBCPS high school juniors and seniors to learn about contemporary art, MOCA, and careers in the arts. They will have the chance to work hands-on with artists and museum professionals during this 12-week program starting in January.

Taquan Butler for being recognized as one of 10 finalists for the Move Maker Award! He will attend the presentation on November 2 at the Chrysler Museum of Art.

Tallwood has been chosen to receive $25,000 in Global Navigator Scholarships! These awards are for any Tallwood student to study abroad next summer. Grade 9, 10, and 11 may apply. The deadline is December 1. See Mrs. Gurley in the LMC for more information.

The senior class for raising over $800 for Hurricane Relief. Ms. Nihill, the Executive Director of the regional Red Cross came and spoke to the senior class officers and explained how the funds will help victims in Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico.

The Marching Lions for earning second place in the 3A class of Drums Along the Boulevard at Princess Anne High School this past weekend! The band also earned best percussion section in their class and earned third place over all.

Sean Moulton (R) and Tristan Cascio (L) received medals from the Atlantic Coast Cross Country Race. Sean finished 1st overall in the race with a time of 16:42.63 and Tristan finished 10th with a time of 17:27.92 in a field of 88 runners.
