The Tallwood Honor Society Membership in the Tallwood Honor Society is an honor bestowed upon a student who demonstrates outstanding character, service, leadership, and scholarship. To be eligible for membership, a candidate must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who has attended Tallwood High School for at least one semester. Additionally candidates must have maintained a 3.5 cumulative average. After the first semester report cards are printed, seniors, juniors, and sophomores with a 3.5 cumulative average are invited to complete a data packet for faculty review. Please see Mrs. Dusenbury in Room 112. A faculty committee then reviews the data packets for at least two service and two leadership activities as well as faculty recommendations. A list of candidates for membership is then sent to Mrs. Caldwell at the beginning of May. Following a tapping and formal induction ceremony on May 31 during Block B1, a reception for parents and new members will be held in the cafeteria. New members are encourages to participate in the many Honor Society activities, which include tutoring and volunteering. In partnership with the Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Department, the Tallwood Honor Society proudly hosts a Timeless Prom for almost one hundred senior citizens.
