If you were identified in elementary school or middle school, you are STILL part of the Gifted Program in high school. The Gifted Program includes students identified as gifted in general intellect aptitude as well as students with exceptional talent in music, dance, art, or theater.

E.E. BRICKELL SCHOLARS INFORMATION
•The E. E. Brickell Scholars Program is designed to promote and recognize academic excellence among high school students in the Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
•It is a one-year, five thousand dollar scholarship awarded to one person each year.
•The scholarship committee at each high school is to select two students in the spring of their junior year. The recipient of the E. E. Brickell Scholarship will be chosen from this group of scholars. Financial need is not a consideration for the scholarship.
•Students selected for the E. E. Brickell Scholars Program must be a junior in the Virginia Beach City Public Schools, have at least a 3.5 grade point average, achieved excellent scores on standardized tests, participate in academically advanced courses, and must show evidence of other academically-oriented pursuits and events. All E. E. Brickell Scholars requesting consideration for the scholarship award in the senior year must be planning to attend a four-year accredited institution of higher learning.
•Interested students may pick up an application from Mrs. Walker in Room 124 or in Guidance. ALL APPLICATIONS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN THURSDAY MARCH 21, 2013.

The mission of the VBCPS Gifted Program at the high school level is to:
• challenge students with differentiated, interdisciplinary opportunities
• provide a flexible, innovative curriculum that promotes self esteem,
productivity, creativity, responsibility, and leadership
• develop individual talents and
• facilitate a commitment to excellence.
Gifted students are warmly welcomed to Room 124 (right outside the Library Media Center) during their Lunch/Study Blocks with permission from their teacher and a yellow gifted pass. Please stop by Room 124 for one.
